Sensu, or folding fans, have been used in Japanese culture since ancient times, evolving in designs and shapes over time. They are made from paper or cloth on bamboo ribs, thinly cut into 20 to 40 pieces, allowing them to fold and fit into a pocket. As useful as they are, they truly display the delicate craftsmanship of Japanese artisans.
