A Collaboration in Craft, Space, and Living
AREA New York is proud to collaborate with YC Real Estate and L3 Capital Group on the interiors of select residences at The Kibo Residences, a boutique condominium in Williamsburg, Brooklyn defined by its balance of modern urban living and quiet refinement.
Conceived as a collection of thoughtfully scaled homes, The Kibo Residences emphasize intimacy, proportion, and material expression. Our approach to the interiors builds on this foundation by introducing a design language rooted in craftsmanship, where each element is considered not only for its function, but for its presence within the space.
Guided by our philosophy of material integrity and refined simplicity, we curated and designed furnishings that resonate with the architectural intent. Natural woods, subtle metal accents, and tactile finishes bring warmth and depth, creating an environment that feels both contemporary and enduring. Live-edge slabs are carefully selected and composed to introduce organic variation, softening the rigidity of concrete lines and offering a quiet contrast to the surrounding urban landscape. In the dining area, this is further articulated through the pairing of our chair A-10 and bar stool A-5, whose distinct forms create a subtle design contrast that complements and elevates the space.
Within this restrained palette, moments of color are introduced with intention. Our one-of-a-kind ALIENATION sideboard brings a distinct visual presence, its sleek form paired with a unique painting process that lends depth and individuality to the piece. It serves as a quiet focal point, reflecting a modern Japanese sensibility that distinguishes itself from more conventional European expressions. Paired with the chair A-29 “KABUTO” and side table LOTUS, this setting creates an intimate corner, ideal for reading or unwinding with a drink.
In the living spaces, pieces such as our sofa EN continue this dialogue. With its low, generous form and understated presence, it introduces a sense of ease, softening the room while maintaining a refined, architectural clarity.
Within the bedroom, flexibility becomes an essential part of the design. Our sofa GARDEN, presented in its bedding configuration, allows the space to shift effortlessly between rest and living. Its ability to transform, from a bed into a full seating arrangement, supports the evolving needs of urban living, while maintaining a calm and cohesive visual language. Complementing this, the lounge chair A-27 introduces an additional layer of comfort for quiet moments of unwinding, while the display cabinet YUKIMI acts as a subtle accent.
Rather than imposing a distinct style, our work seeks alignment with the rhythm of the space, the quality of light, and the experience of living within a boutique residence. The result is an interior that feels cohesive, intentional, and quietly expressive.
